Save the drama
I hope BASEBALL PLAYERS DO GO ON STRIKE OR GET LOCKED OUT OR WHATEVER AFTER THIS SEASON'S OVER. THEIR DRAMA THIS SEASON ALONE HAS TAKEN UP ENOUGH OF AMERICA'S TIME.
GOOD JOB, TEAM
Congratulations to THE SOUTHEAST BASEBALL TEAM. YOU ALL MADE US PROUD WITH A GREAT SEASON. BEST WISHES FOR EVEN BETTER YEARS TO COME.
WATCH YOUR BOOS
I would LIKE TO COMMENT TO "CHANGED CHANT" IN FANSPEAK. FIRST, I CONGRATULATE THE ORAN EAGLES BASEBALL TEAM ON A JOB WELL DONE, AND BELL CITY WAS ROOTING FOR THEM ALL THE WAY. I WILL BE THE FIRST TO AGREE WITH YOU THAT CHANTING "BASEBALL PRACTICE" WAS IN POOR TASTE. THE ORAN FANS ALSO SHOWED POOR SPORTSMANSHIP THAT NIGHT BY BOOING THE BELL CITY PLAYERS AS THEY WERE BEING INTRODUCED. IN MY OPINION, HAD ORAN NOT STARTED THAT, BELL CITY FANS WOULD NOT HAVE SAID WHAT THEY SAID. THE NEXT TIME YOU BOO BELL CITY'S PLAYERS, REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE ALSO BOOING THE CLASS 1A STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS.
ALL THREE OF US
HEARD ON LATE-NIGHT TV THIS WEEK: "A BILLION PEOPLE ARE GOING TO WATCH THE WORLD CUP GAMES. A BILLION AND THREE IF YOU COUNT THE PEOPLE IN THE U.S." THAT'S CLASSIC.
GAY? WE SHOULD KNOW
YES, IT'S OUR BUSINESS IF ATHLETES ARE GAY. IT'S NOW A LEGITIMATE HEALTH ISSUE.
CUP CRAVING
Why isn't THERE MORE WORLD CUP COVERAGE IN THIS AREA? BETWEEN THE NEWSPAPER AND THE TV AND RADIO STATIONS, YOU'D NEVER KNOW THERE WAS A WORLD CUP GOING ON.
LOOK FOR WORLD CUP STANDINGS TODAY ON PAGE 4 AND AN OPINION COLUMN ON THIS PAGE.
