Memo to the coaches: Be fair to your athletes
School and school sports will soon be starting again. Please, coaches, try to maintain your integrity by being fair and impartial to all the athletes. Expect the same level of work and responsibility from all and try not to dishearten the team by such unbecoming favoritism to one or a select few. You may think you are hiding your personal feelings, but they are read loud and clear. This propably goes on in many schools, and its a shame.
The Capahas need some attention, too
I'm glad the Riverdogs have a team here in Cape Girardeau, and good luck to them, but they are not "rivals" to the Capahas. The Capahas do not get the recognition that they deserve. Where is all the media coverage for them? I've been seeing a lot about the Riverdogs lately. Cape doesn't realize what it has in the Capahas. This team deserves some long-overdue credit. Jess and Mary Bolen devote all of their time and energy to this team, and we as a community need to finally realize it. We have a piece of history in our town and we choose to ignore it. Where's the support?
Guilty of tradition and celebrating mascot
Clinging to the past? Storied deep in tradition? Guilty as charged. Honor the chief. Long live the Fighting Illini.
