Outraged...

Outraged

IT JUST blows my mind that when reading the April 3 column by Marty Mishow that Landon Shipley, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch boys basketball player of the year whose father played basketball at Southeast Missouri State, is going to Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay. Where is the outrage? If you can't recruit the son of a former basketball alumnus, who can you recruit? Why can't we sign these kids? Does it cost that much money to go up to St. Louis and recruit this kid? No one can argue with a straight face that Austin Peay is that much better of a program then Southeast or that this kid is "above" our talent level? If that is the case, then we need to close the doors on our Division I program today and go back to Division II. This isn't the first time that Austin Peay has beaten us in the St. Louis area recruiting battle or in other parts of this state for that matter. Not recruiting this kid or letting this kid go should be a clear indication as to what is really going on with our basketball program. It's time to clean house. There still is time to make a change.

Words of support

THIS IS just an encouraging word to the Notre Dame girls track team's 800-meter relay team. I admire the way Haley Bohnert, Hannah Glueck, Emily Biri and Amber Karnes handled last year's loss in sectional and came back this season working hard. Your hard work will pay off, and you will make it to state this year. Good job, girls.
