Slap on the back

Rude soccer fans

THE FANS for Southeast were extremely rude and poor sports at the soccer game Sunday. During the final minutes of the game, one of the Southeast fans attempted to knock me off of the bleacher. It's a good thing someone from Eastern grabbed me or I could have been seriously injured.

Way to go Leopold

CONGRATULATIONS TO the Leopold Wildcats for their fantastic year in volleyball. What a way to end their season with the biggest achievement of first place at the state tournament. As a proud Notre Dame volleyball parent and fan, I can also say that I am proud of my Leopold roots and have many relatives and friends associated with their team. My congratulations again for a job well done.

Anything but SE football

CAN YOU cover something besides Southeast football please?

Next year won't be an upset

JUST THINK: Next year when Southeast beats Eastern Kentucky in football, we won't be calling it an upset. I'm glad to see this team having this kind of success after a long time of struggling.

Snubbed by the media

FIRST LET me start by saying I do not live in Leopold but I can't believe the poor coverage given by KFVS TV and Southeast Missourian on the Leopold volleyball girls going to state and getting to be No. 1 in the state. I understand you couldn't even come to Leopold when the team came in Saturday evening. Very sad. If it had been one of your Cape teams, it would have been all over the front page of the Southeast Missourian and TV all week. It's a shame a small school doing so well and not much publicity. If it had not been for Mark Young from the Banner Press and as I understand, the Banner Press was represented at state, I don't suppose would have been in Sunday's Missourian. It's a shame, as I am sure a lot of folks from that area subscribe to your paper, but I'm sure they don't get their money's worth. All you want to do is blow about football, football, football and soccer. These girls have worked hard and deserved more recognition than they received. Let me close in saying I would like to congratulate the Class 1A state champion Leopold volleyball team on a great season. What a great bunch of girls. God bless them.

Courage in face of adversity

I WANT to tip my hat to the Jackson football team. They had a tough year but they handled it with class, they handled it with courage and they never gave up. A season like that is hard to swallow when they're used to having a good team but these kids showed a lot of heart and I'm very proud of them. I never saw anything that was out of order, during the frustration. It took a lot of strong young men. Congratulations Jackson football team.

Where's the pictures?

I WAS wondering why there were no cross country pictures in the paper for the kids that qualified for state. They used to do it in the past and it is a big event for those kids. It's quite an undertaking. I was wondering why there was only a little blurb in there Saturday about that whole event.

(The Southeast Missourian changed its policy of running pictures of state qualifiers several years ago.)

Thank you Sonny

A GREAT big thank you needs to go out to Sonny Minor. This week was the CAYSA soccer tournament. When the CAYSA soccer tournament's golf cart broke down, Sonny Minor came to the rescue, loaned them one free of charge to use for the weekend. Again, a great big thank you ought to go to Sonny Minor, Minor's Harley Davidson, for the use of the golf cart this weekend for the Cape Area Youth Soccer program tournament that they had.

The long and short of it

I CAN'T believe that Central gets beaten badly and they get a bigger story than Notre Dame does. Notre Dame has proven to be a better team this year by beating Central!!! So I ask why do they get more coverage?
