Good luck to Devils

GOOD LUCK to Chaffee High School football and coach Charlie Vickery for the 2006 season. I recall Charlie's competitive spirit as a Chaffee player back in 1968 and 1969 and as a coach at Sikeston. I'm convinced he's still a winner.

My opinion: Bad call

SOUTHEAST BASEBALL coach Mark Hogan and catcher Levi Olson said nothing wrong or "inappropriate," as the OVC stated, last weekend. They just had an opinion on a bad call [in the April 14 game with Samford]. I think Southeast should look at moving to another conference such as the Missouri Valley. When is Southeast's athletic administration going to stand behind your teams instead of the OVC's iron fist?

Action won't fix problem

THE MISSOURI State High School Activities Association tried to correct a problem with an area coach but really did little [in its penalties against Scott County Central and boys basketball coach David Heeb]. The real truth is this type of undue influence and recruiting has been going on for a long time at certain schools, but most people turn their heads. The only losers are the little schools who have nothing valuable with which to recruit and lose games over and over.
