Good effort; Better signal; Restructure tourney; Patience

Good effort

CONGRATULATIONS TO the Oak Ridge boys basketball team in its game against Central. The Blue Jays not only did a good job, but you about gave the announcers a heart attack during the first half by staying close.

Better signal

THE SOUTHEAST Missourian Christmas Tournament is, for this entire area, a pretty big event. Unfortunately, some of us have to work and can only attend evening games, and some folks, for some reason or another, are unable to attend at all. It would be wonderful if an event of this size could be carried on a radio station that has a stronger signal. Surely, with the corporate sponsors and the ticket revenues, the tournament director can find some way to have the tournament carried on an FM station.

Restructure tourney

IN AN effort to give the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament a higher quality field, I would suggest the top 16 teams from the area be invited based on their performances and records from the previous year. There are some good teams out there that are not getting an opportunity to play. Hopefully, this would reduce the games that are not competitive at all and give other teams an opportunity to show what they can do. Saxony Lutheran has proven to be highly competitive, and it would be nice to see how they measured up.

Patience

I HOPE fans will be patient with new Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coach Scott Edgar and his team. If you watch them carefully, they are playing with a lot of heart, they have more talent than Southeast has had in several years, and they are slowly improving. Come out and support this team. Let them hear you in the stands, and you may be pleasantly surprised in the last half of the season.
