Senior Samantha Espiricueta finished second in the javelin at the prestigious Drake Relays.

Senior Samantha Espiricueta continued her impressive season in the javelin, leading Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes during the prestigious Drake Relays that concluded Saturday.

Espiricueta, ranked 21st nationally heading into the meet, finished second. She just missed her season-high distance with a toss of 159 feet, 1 inch.

It was Espiricueta's sixth top-two finish in as many meets this outdoor season.

The team of Rachel Kahle, Jerika Lewis, Magan Edwards and Angelica Larrier placed fourth in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1 minute, 37.18 seconds.

That same squad placed 11th in the 400 relay (46.64).

Kahle, a senior from Jackson High School, finished 16th in the 100 (12.39).

Senior Tyler Terry, a Central High School graduate, was 13th in the long jump (23-11 3/4).

The team of Dustin Davis, Chris Loseman, Nate Shipley and Alex Zisser finished 11th in the 6,400 relay (17:08.00).

Brandon Colbert was 15th in the hammer throw (195-10) and 23rd in the shot put (148-7).

Josh Uchtman placed 25th in the shot put (142-2).

Southeast returns to action at the Ohio Valley Conference outdoor meet Friday and Saturday in Murray, Ky.
