COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State's softball season came to a close Friday as the Redhawks suffered their second consecutive shutout loss in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.
Sixth-seeded Eastern Kentucky bounced the fifth-seeded Redhawks from the six-team, double-elimination event with a 3-0 victory.
Southeast began the tournament Thursday by blanking fourth-seeded Tennessee-Martin 3-0, but later in the day the Redhawks were routed by top-seeded Tennessee Tech 8-0.
The Redhawks finished the season with a 28-24 record, including losses in 12 of their final 13 games.
Kelsey Anderson pitched a four-hitter to lead the Colonels. She struck out four and walked none.
Anderson was also Eastern Kentucky's offensive star with two hits and two runs batted in.
Elaine Fisher, who received the decision in all three Southeast tournament games, was the tough-luck loser. She fell to 13-17 after allowing seven hits and just one earned run. She struck out four and walked none.
The Colonels scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning, then added insurance in the sixth on Anderson's two-run double, with just one of the runs being earned.
Lyndsey Webb had two of Southeast's four hits.
