~ Southeast's coach said his senior forward still has a lot to work out.
Scott Edgar was a bit vague with his comments regarding Brandon Foust's status shortly after it was determined that Foust would be allowed to return to school.
But Edgar, the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coach, expounded on things Thursday.
Among the comments Edgar made was one that confirmed what most Southeast basketball fans expected: Foust is still a member of the Redhawks.
"He's back in school ... at this time he's a member of the basketball team, but we will still have many conversations about his future participation," Edgar said.
Edgar released a statement through the university Wednesday, the day Southeast announced that the university judicial process determined that Foust would be allowed to continue as a student at Southeast.
In the press release, Edgar said: "After further consideration, I will make a determination of Brandon's future with the men's basketball program."
That left open the possibility that Foust would not be allowed to return, but Edgar dismissed those thoughts Thursday.
Although Edgar said that Foust is back with the Redhawks, Foust did not participate in Thursday's practice.
Foust has not practiced yet with the team after a recent altercation in a campus dormitory resulted in him being prohibited from campus and school-related activities, which led to Wednesday's judicial board hearing.
Edgar did not say when the 6-foot-6 senior forward will be allowed to return to practice, which began Oct. 12.
Edgar also indicated that Foust still has to satisfy some requirements within the program that the coach has mandated, but he did not go into specifics.
"I fully support Brandon, although I do not support all of his actions," Edgar said Thursday. "Brandon still has a lot of things he has to work out.
"Brandon and I have met. We will continue to meet. I will do my utmost to help him with his personal growth and student growth."
Foust, a transfer from Oklahoma, played his first season with the Redhawks last year and led them in scoring with an average of 12.1 points per game. He was second in rebounding at 5.6 per contest.
A member of the Ohio Valley Conference all-newcomer team last year, Foust was recently selected to the 10-player preseason all-OVC squad.
The Redhawks play their first exhibition game Nov. 1 against Division II Lincoln. The regular season begins Nov. 10 at Xavier.
