RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- Eastern Kentucky University is sorting out quarterback issues after its two most experienced signal callers became unavailable. Sophomore Trevor Hoskins recently left the team and Marshall transfer Chris Smith is out indefinitely with an injured back. Colonels coach Dean Hood now has two full-time quarterbacks on the roster, Cody Watts and T.J. Pryor.
Hood says the defending Ohio Valley Conference champions are adjusting to the turn of events and will have the position sorted out soon.
To add some depth, Charlie Banks, a a redshirt freshman, has been moved to quarterback full-time from safety. Freshman wide receiver Justin Williams has also been recently been taking snaps at quarterback.
Freshman Brendon Gregory has also been taken snaps with the quarterbacks since the opening practice of training camp.
