The Scott-Mississippi All-Conference softball team has been released, with East Prairie senior shortstop Tori Stinnett and Scott County coach Tim Carlisle topping the list as the conference player and coach of the year.
Stinnett led the Lady Eagles to a 16-8 overall record and conference title and finished the season with a remarkable .645 batting average with 49 total hits including 17 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. The Three Rivers College signee also had 46 RBIs, scored 37 runs and stole nine bases.
“I felt very honored and grateful to win player of the year,” Stinnett said. “There are many others that honestly deserved it more than me. Kennedy Cogdill, my best friend, was in a potentially fatal crash around this time last year. She was told that she was never going to play again, but she didn’t give up. So, I believe that there were many other candidates including her, but I am very appreciative that the coaches chose me.
“My teammates have been supportive all year,” she continued. “I wish them the best of luck next year as they continue to play. Again, I’m just thankful and thank God for a healthy senior year with all my teammates but especially Cogdill and Katie Brewer. We’ve been together since we were eight years old, and it was great to have a good senior season with them and all our teammates.”
When asked for her advice to younger players who aspire to follow in her footsteps, Stinnett had some valuable insight to share.
“Work as hard as you can all the time,” she said. “When I was younger, I dreaded going to practice and putting work into myself. But, I can honestly say that I would not be the athlete that I am today without practicing, exercising, and continuing even when it was hard.”
Stinnett was not alone on the all-conference team, as her senior teammates Kennedy Codgill and Katie Brewer also earned a spot on the roster. Together ht trio proved to be a formidable force on the field, helping to lead their team to one of the most successful seasons in school history.
Cogdill was the team’s top pitcher, earning a 10-3 overall record on the mound after pitching 73.1 total innings. She finished the year with a 3.245 ERA and 98 strikeouts. In the plate, she batted .507 with 38 total hits including 11 doubles, one triple and two home runs. Cogdill scored 43 times and had 22 RBIs.
Brewer ended the season with a .390 batting average, 28 RBIs and 44 runs scored. She had 32 total hits including nine doubles, two triples and two home runs.
Stinnett and Codgill also earned first-team All-Class 2, District 1 honors, while Brewer and Alison Miller were second-team selections.
The Oran Lady Eagles also had three selections in senior Dalaini Bryant and juniors Molly Spane and Lily Knotts.
Spane, Knotts, Bryant, Bralynn Morgan and Ava Forehand also earned Class 1, District 2 All-District selections.
Morgan and Forehand were also both honorable mention selections for the all-conference team.
Charleston had two selections in junior Soma Hooper and sophomore Saylor Humphrey.
Hooper batted .459 with 17 total hits including eight doubles and two triples. She also 13 times, had 11 RBIs and stole nine bases.

Humphrey also led the team with a .594 batting average for 19 total hits including four doubles, five triples and two home runs. She also had 15 RBIs and scored 11 runs. Both players earned second-team All-Class 2, District 1 honors.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for this award,” coach Carlisle said. “But it goes way beyond me. This is a direct reflection of myself, assistant coach Joey Seiler and our team as a whole for staying the course even when we couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am grateful for this group of girls, each and every one of them.”
