CHAFFEE, Mo. — After suffering a 2-0 loss at Chaffee, the East Prairie baseball team is left searching for answers on the offensive end.

The Eagles (3-4) struggled to generate consistent offense, managing just two hits in the shutout loss to the Red Devils (6-1).

“We didn’t do the little things well enough offensively to score a run. We couldn’t get a bunt down or get the timely hit we needed. We had opportunities but could not come through.”

East Prairie is averaging just 3.3 runs per game this season after finishing with a 10.3 average in last season’s regular season.

Chaffee scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs when Zaven Leible scored on a single by Kade Atkins.

Peyton Vaughn earned the win, while Own Knight took the loss.

Knight pitched 6.2 innings and didn’t allow earned runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and four walked batters.
