NEW MADRID, Mo. — The East Prairie softball team put on a clinic in a 16-0 domination of New Madrid County Central at Eagles Park on Tuesday, April 11.

“The team played well today,” said East Prairie Jade Marcum. “We are definitely back on the right track and working together as a team. There were a few base running errors here and there, but overall, we were pleased with them.”

East Prairie’s (3-4) top performers at the plate were Tori Stinnett (3-for-3 with four RBIs and scored two runs), Kennedy Cogdill (2-for-3 with two runs scored), Addison Aters (2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored), Sydney Aycock (2-for-3 with two scored runs), Alison Miller (1-for-2 with two RBIs and scored a run) and Riley Wilson (1-for-2 with two RBIs).

Cogdill earned the win on the mound. She pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits with nine strikeouts.

Laura Johnson took the loss. She threw three innings and allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

East Prairie travels to Charleston on Thursday, April 13, and hosts Delta (1-4) on Monday, April 17.
