CHARLESTON, Mo. — The East Prairie softball team left no doubt in its county rivalry matchup with Charleston on Thursday, April 13.

The Lady Eagles (4-4) delivered a dominant performance en route to a lop-sided 17-3 victory over the Lady Bluejays (1-7).

“I was pleased that we kept defensive errors to a minimum and hit well enough to get the win,” said East Prairie coach Jade Marcum. “Riley Wilson pitched well and finished the game out on her own for her first win of the season. We were proud of her for getting the job done.”

Wilson pitched five innings, allowing no earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

East Prairie’s top performers at the plate were Tori Stinnett (3-for-5 with two triples, a double, two RBIs and scored two runs), Katie Brewer (2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and scored two runs), Addisyn Aters (2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored two runs), Alison Miller (2-for-4 and scored a run) and Anna Gilliam (2-for-3 with a RBI and scored two runs).

Chloe Jackson, Wilson, Ella Dunn and Sophia Jordan each added one hit.

“We enjoyed getting to include the whole team in the game again and happy that they were able to come in, get hits, and make plays to contribute to the win for the Eagles,” Marcum said.

Naylor Humphreys took the loss. She threw five innings and allowed 11 earned runs on 14 hits with nine strikeouts and five walks.

Soma Hooper, Humphrey and Kari Murphy each had one hit for Charleston.

East Prairie hosts Delta (1-4) on Monday, April 17, while Charleston travels to Oak Ridge (2-2) on Tuesday, April 18.
