East Prairie comeback falls short at South Pemiscot

STEELE, Mo. — South Pemsicot upset East Prairie 71-59.

The Eagles (18-6) won an earlier-season matchup by 16 points, but couldn’t overcome a 41-20 deficit on Thursday, Feb. 9.

“South Pemiscot wanted it more in the first half,” said East Prairie coach Gary Scott. “They fought harder for every rebound and loose ball. We dug too deep of a hole to climb out of. Poor shot selection led to bad defense. We played harder in the third quarter but couldn’t get back in it.”

Wyatt Williams scored a game-high 21 to lead East Prairie, while Connor Marcum and Noah Johnson each added 10.

Logan Welch was South Pemsicot’s top scorer with 21, while Trevan Shurburte and Robert Farmer added 18 and 13, respectively.

Both teams return to action on Friday, Feb. 10.

East Prairie travels to Kelly (11-12), while South Pemiscot is on the road at Neelyville (12-9).

The Eagles will conclude their regular season at Malden (14-7) on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
