Eagle Ridge volleyball squad places second at state tournament

The Eagle Ridge girls volleyball team finished second at the MCSAA state tournament Saturday in Joplin, Mo.

The Eagles (17-12) fell to Grandview 25-13, 25-13 in the championship match.

Eagle Ridge had reached the final by finishing first in its pool with a 3-1 record, then winning two matches Saturday.

The Eagles defeated Liberty 20-25, 25-23, 15-11 in the quarterfinals, then downed Westwood 25-20, 20-25, 15-9 in the semifinals.

The Eagles' Heather Wiseman was named first-team all-state, while Susanna Cohen was selected second team.
