Southeast Missouri State used the arm and bat of Jenny Doehring to sweep a Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader from Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday.

Doehring shut out UTM in a 2-0 win in the opener, then hit two home runs and drove in six runs in the nightcap, an 11-3 Southeast victory.

Southeast improved to 13-15 overall and 7-3 in OVC play. UTM fell to 6-34 and 4-8 in the conference.

UTM outhit Southeast in the opener, but the Otahkians mounted a two-out rally to score the game's only runs in the third inning. Brooke Nett tripled with two outs and scored on Kemi Rampi's single to right field. Doehring then singled and Nett scored all the way from first when the ball was mishandled in the outfield.

Doehring (9-7) allowed seven hits, struck out three and walked one.

Molly McKinney (2-15) suffered the loss for UTM. She allowed six hits, struck out three and walked no one.

Renee Enos had two hits for Southeast.

In the second game, the Otahkians scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer to leftcenter field by Doehring. Amy Thompson also had a two-run blast in the inning.

UTM touched Southeast's Kristen King for three runs in the second, but Southeast countered with four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to enact the mercy rule.

Doehring belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning which put her in the company of three other Southeast players to hit two home runs in a game. She picked up her sixth RBI of the game in the fifth inning with a bases-loaded walk that scored Southeast's final run to end the game.

Doehring, who also had a single, finished the game 3-for-3 as did teammate Emmy Kisaka. Thompson and Courtney Eklund each added two hits in Southeast's 14-hit attack.

King (4-8) allowed just three hits, struck out two and walked four.

The Otahkians will be back in action Thursday, hosting Eastern Illinois at 2:30 p.m.
