LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers did not pick up the option on reliever Jeff Shaw's contract Friday, leaving them in search of a new closer.
By declining to exercise Shaw's $7.05 million option, the Dodgers must pay him a $1.25 million buyout.
Shaw immediately filed for free agency in pursuit of a closer's job near his Ohio home. He is the Dodgers' leader in saves with 129.
Los Angeles got a starting pitcher Friday, acquiring left-hander Omar Daal from Philadelphia for minor league pitchers Eric Junge and Jesus Cordero.

Mussina named to Little League board
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- New York Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina was elected Friday to the Little League Baseball Inc. International Board of Directors.
"I'm always interested in baseball, and Little League has been an important part of what I've been able to do," said Mussina, who grew up four miles away in Montoursville.
"I wanted to see if I could get involved and help out the next group of major leaguers. I've had a chance to coach a little bit, and this is a chance to work on the administrative side of it -- to make some decisions that are going to help some people."
Mussina recently donated money to build Montoursville a Little League field.
Little League's board elected Dwight Raiford as the organization's first black chairman of the board.

Jordan scores 32 in Wizards' loss
WASHINGTON -- Michael Jordan missed seven straight shots in the first half, had a brief flurry late in the third quarter and played on a near-empty tank in the fourth, scoring 32 points in 38 minutes as Wizards lost 109-100 Friday night to the Golden State Warriors.
Jordan made just 13 of 30 shots, but it was the poor defense and rebounding that failed the Wizards. Jordan was victimized by Antawn Jamison's moves to the paint, and the Warriors outrebounded the Wizards 45-27.
Jamison scored 26 points on 10-for-17 shooting, and Larry Hughes also had 26 points to lead the Warriors, who hadn't won at MCI Center since the building opened in December 1997.
Golden State's Danny Fortson added 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Richard Hamilton added 16 points for the Wizards, who have lost three straight.
