Some doctors of dunk will attempt to win in court against a group of lawyers on March 5 when the 11th annual Doctor-Lawyer Basketball Showdown takes place. Some doctors of dunk will attempt to win in court against a group of lawyers on March 5 when the 11th annual Doctor-Lawyer Basketball Showdown takes place.

The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Notre Dame Regional High School gym.

All proceeds will benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation, a not-for-profit mental health care center.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.

A pregame tailgate party is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Dalhousie Downtown, 19 S. Spanish St. in Cape Girardeau. Tickets to that event are $20 and include admission to the game as well as food, beverages and a silent auction. Tickets may be purchased at the Community Counseling Center, Schnucks in Cape Girardeau, the Public Defenders Office in Jackson, or from any foundation board member. Tickets also are available by calling 334-1100.

Kohlfield Scorpions Rugby club loses opening match

The Kohlfeld Scorpions Rugby Club lost its season-opening match 24-15 to the Memphis Blues Rugby Club. The contest was played Saturday at the University of Memphis.

T.J. Ebner scored twice and Cole Burton scored once for the Scorpions.

The Scorpions are scheduled to play the Hopkinsville Headhunters1 p.m. Saturday at Arena Park on Hawthorne Drive.
