Perryville senior Kyle Dobbelare came home with four state medals and helped the Pirates to a seventh-place finish in the team standings Saturday at the Class 3 state track and field championships in Jefferson City, Mo.

Dobbelare, who has a 2002 long jump championship among his seven career state medals, didn't bring home any top honors Saturday but he made his largest hardware haul. His best finish was a second-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles, which was won by Kansas City Central's Julius Jiles in 13.96 seconds. Dobbelare finished in 14.40.

Dobbelare also was fifth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the long jump. He was a member of Perryville's 1,600 relay team that finished fifth.

The 1,600 teams also included Kyle Cottner, Jesse Kueker and Terry Wood. The squad set a school record of 3:23.62 in the preliminaries.

Jesse Whistler added a fourth in the 110 hurdles for Perryville.

"I thought we had a chance to get in the top four," Perryville coach Lance Bell said. "Everyone competed hard for us."

Jiles' performance -- he won the 300 hurles, the 200 dash and was second in the 100 -- helped Kansas City Central win the team title with 92 points. Perryville compiled 23. Notre Dame had a respectable 14th-place showing with 15 points.

Scoring points Saturday for the Bulldogs was Austin Critchlow, who finished second in the 800 meters. The junior finished in 1:58.44, within a second of Ladue junior James Butler.

Class 4 boys

Central and Jackson tied for 36th in the team standings with five points each.

For Central, the 800 relay was seventh Saturday and the 1,600 relay was sixth. Sophomore Xavier Delph added a seventh-place finish in the triple jump.

For Jackson on Saturday, Isaac Venable was fifth in the 800-meter run and Brad Crader was eighth in the discus.

Notre Dame's Katie Daniel finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles final Saturday.

Class 4 girls

Amy West added three points to Jackson's team total Saturday with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault. She cleared 10 feet. Rebecca Martin had finished sixth in the shot put Friday and Jackson finished with six points.

Central's only points came from freshman Nicole Jackson, who placed sixth in the 200 meters. She was the lone freshman in the field.

Central's 3,200 relay finished ninth in 9:39.79, 30 seconds behind the winning squad from Eureka.

Eureka's relay included Jackson native Merideth Snow, who added two individual titles at the meet. Snow won the 3,200 meters in 10:54.68 on Friday and added a win in the 1,600 meters in 4:58.19 on Saturday.
