ORAN, Mo. — Kelly displayed a resolute defensive performance, effectively shackling the high-powered offense of Oran during a victory in the semifinals of the 68th Annual Oran Invitational.

The Hawks’ (2-0) defensive dominance was undoubtedly the driving force behind their triumph, but their ability to exercise discipline and control on offense served as an equally potent weapon against the Eagles (1-1) in the 57-44 win on Thursday, Nov. 30.

“We had a great defensive effort tonight by everyone but especially Canon Kirkpatrick,” said Kelly coach Noel Trimmer. “Also just an outstanding effort by Ross Peters. Defense won us the game, plus patience on the offensive end.”

Kelly's physicality extended beyond their defensive efforts, as their two big men, Reece Eftink and Dalton Forck, imposed their will on the offensive end as well. Eftink led the Hawks with 17 points, while Forck added 12, showcasing their ability to score in the paint and overpower defenders.

The duo’s combined performance epitomized the team’s overall dominance, highlighting its ability to control the game on both ends of the court.

Kelly will play second-seeded Richland (2-0) for the title at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.
