DEXTER -- It was certainly not a good day for Jackson High's baseball team Monday.

The Indians had just one hit, committed six errors and issued nine walks as Dexter romped to a 12-2, six-inning victory.

Jackson, which fell to 7-9, will host Cape Central Wednesday.

Tory Meyr singled in the first inning to account for Jackson's only hit. The Indians scored twice that frame but were blanked the rest of the way.

Paul Johns was the losing pitcher. He allowed five earned runs and six hits in three innings. Andy Callis gave up two earned runs and three hits over the final three innings.

Scott City 8, Delta 1

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City scored five runs in the first inning Monday to win handily.

Scott City (6-5) roped 12 hits, getting two each from Jason Bickings, Lance Amick and John Wipfler. Amick and Wipfler both had doubles.

Rafe Camp pitched the final five innings to get the win for Scott City, allowing five hits. Delta totaled eights hits in the game, scoring once in the fourth inning.

Oran 4, Kelly 3

ORAN -- Oran notched a big victory Monday as the Eagles scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to down Kelly.

The Class 1A Eagles are now 13-2, with their only losses coming to 4A schools Sikeston and Poplar Bluff.

Justin McAllister pitched all seven innings for the win. He allowed six hits and two earned runs while fanning seven and walking four.

Ben Klipfel gave up 10 hits to take the loss.

McAllister and Dustin Dannenmueller both had two hits for Oran.

Kelly erased a 3-0 deficit with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh.

But in the bottom of the seventh, freshman Adam Friga singled, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored the game-ending run on Justin Wierman's single.

Oak Ridge 20, Meadow Heights 0

OAK RIDGE -- Oak Ridge scored 14 runs in the first inning on the way to a five-inning rout Monday.

Oak Ridge (5-6) roped 19 hits, seven of them home runs, while Blue Jays pitcher Darren Hahs no-hit the Panthers. Hahs struck out 11 and walked three.

Brian Glueck smacked three home runs and totaled five RBIs. Matt Preusser was 4-for-4 with two home runs and Rob Landgras 4-for-4 with five RBIs. Brad Ruppel and Bo Morrison both had two hits and a home run between them.

SOFTBALL

Chaffee 7, New Madrid 6

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee's Brandi Foulk scored from first on a bunt by Jodi Pfefferkorn in the seventh inning to give the Lady Devils a come-from-behind victory Monday.

Chaffee (9-2) trailed 4-1 entering the sixth inning, but scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-4 lead. A two-out, two-run single by Casey Graviett gave Chaffee its first lead at 5-4.

New Madrid scored two in the top of the seventh to knot the score 6-6 before Chaffee won on Pfefferkorn's bunt. Foulk advanced to third base on Pfefferkorn's bunt-single and when the throw to third went into left field, Foulk scored the winning run.

Jamie Duncan went the distance on the mound for the win, striking out nine.

Scott City 12, Delta 2

SCOTT CITY -- Delta scored the first two runs, but the rest of the game belonged to Scott City as the Lady Rams won in six innings.

The Lady Bobcats enjoyed a two-run first, but Scott City (5-3) scored two in the fourth, eight in the fifth and two in the sixth for the win.

Winning pitcher Amy O'Brien had three hits and two RBIs at the plate while Jessica Dees added three hits. Tonya Mathews, Becca Edmondson and Lindsey Baker each added two hits in Scott City's 19-hit attack.

O'Brien allowed four hits, struck out 11 and walked seven. Mindy Palmer, who took the loss for Delta, had two hits.

Leopold 17, St. Vincent 6

LEOPOLD -- St. Vincent improved to 6-1 with a five-inning victory Monday.

Leopold was issued 16 walks to go with five hits.

Lisa Peters pitched three innings of hitless ball, yielding just one walk.

Sarah Gowen doubled for Leopold and had two RBIs.

Advance 14, Dexter 4

DEXTER -- Advance defeated Dexter for the third time this season, breaking open a close game with 11 runs over the final two innings Monday.

Ashley Hitt allowed two hits, walked three and struck out 11 batters. Advance improved to 9-3.

Hitt, Emily Johnson and Erin Jenkins all had three hits in Advance's 15-hit attack.

Jenkins knocked in three runs, as did Amanda Bond, who had a double among her two hits.

Advance took a 4-2 lead into the sixth inning and scored six times for a comfortable 10-2 lead.

GIRLS SOCCER

Perryville 4, Notre Dame 2

Perryville jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead Monday and coasted to a win over Notre Dame at Shawnee Park.

Sarah Hadler, Jaimy Meyr, April Watts and Stacy Baer scored goals for the Lady Pirates.

Notre Dame, which fell to 5-9-1, got goals from Jill Edwards and Jaymie Frank. Katie Mehner and Laura Mittrucker had assists.

"We were very flat in the first half," said Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley. "We came out and played a lot more aggressive in the second half but Perryville has a good team."

GOLF

Central places fourth

FARMINGTON -- Cape Central finished fourth out of 14 teams during Monday's Farmington Invitational.

In the best-ball format, the Tigers had a score of 238. Francis Howell North ran away with the title, scoring 220. Parkway South was second at 234 and Francis Howell Central placed third at 237.

Among other Southeast Missouri teams, Poplar Bluff was fifth at 239 while Jackson and Sikeston tied for ninth at 247.

Cape Central's two-man teams of Danny Groesbeck-Dane McLaird and Jeff Haycraft-Josh Miller both shot 78s to tie for sixth.

Also in that group in sixth place at 78 was Jackson's team of Gabe Estes-Craig Hutson.

McLaird finished fourth individually at six-over-par 78. The winning score was 75.

"I thought we did pretty well," said Cape Central coach Dick Wadlington. "The best ball is a different kind of game. It's a lot about helping your partner out. But I think it was a fun tournament."

BOYS TENNIS

Central 8, Poplar Bluff 1

POPLAR BLUFF -- Cape Central improved to 8-5 in dual matches with an easy victory Monday.

The Tigers swept the six singles matches and won two out of three in doubles.

Central's JV also romped 8-0.
