The Dexter Cross Country team had another strong showing this weekend at Arcadia Valley. The team had three medalist and saw the school record broken again.

“We had a great week of training this past week and it showed as we made significant gains,” said Dexter coach Josh Dowdy. “Cameron (Bell) and Ben (Dowdy) had personal bests by both of them breaking the 17 minute barrier. Cam (Cameron Bell) broke his own record from last week with a time of 16:43.  Jaxon (King) and Hunter (Massey) had a big day too.  On the girls side, Abbie had a great run, seconds away from her personal best.”

Lloyd, Bell and Dowdy all medaled for Dexter. Bell broke his own school cross country record he set the previous weekend at Memphis with a time of 16:43.63.

Bell's time was good for a second place finish. Dowdy finished fifth with a time of 16:59.56.

Peyton Ballance and Stryer Muzny competed for the Dexter junior varsity finishing at 22:26.91 and 23:19.68 respectively.

“We have had 4-5 of our kids put in anywhere from 35-50 miles per week since early July. I want to believe their persistence will pay off over the course of the season,” said Dowdy. “We have high expectations for ourselves and we’re not quite where we want to be yet—this group is hungry and I am confident they will continue chewing up the streets until they reach their goals.”
