The Dexter Bearcat Cross Country team is making a return to the state meet for the second year in a row. The Bearcats finished second at the Class 1 District 1 meet Saturday at Notre Dame Regional High School.
This will be the second time in program history the Bearcat cross country team has advanced to state. The Bearcats finished fifth in the state in 2022.
Dexter finished with 64 points behind Herculaneum with 39. Potosi finished third with 104 points and Principia had 126 points to round out the top four teams at the meet.
Boys individual medalist for Dexter were Cameron Bell—4th--16:46,Ben Dowdy—8th—17:15, Hunter Massey—9th—17:28, Jaxon King—16th--17:51 and Chase Farmer—29th—18:17.
In addition to the team advancing Abbie Lloyd advanced as an individual state qualifier. Lloyd finished 11th in a time of 21:42. This will be Lloyd's fourth trip to state as an individual qualifier.
The state meet will be November 4th at Gans Creek in Columbia.
