Dexter and Bernie to meet for the third time this season

The Dexter Bearcats and the Bernie Mules will meet for a third time this season as the two schools will meet in the consolation final at the SCAA Tournament in Bloomfield.

The fifth seeded Bernie Mules reached the consolation final after holding off the seven seed Advance Hornets 43-38 Wednesday evening. Chase Guiling led the Mules with 24 points.

The sixth seed Bearcats rolled past Bell City 72-34 to earn a third game with Bernie. Ddexter was led in scoring by Ethan Zabelin with 18 points.

In the two previous meetings this season Dexter defeated Bernie 50-47 in the first round of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament. Bernie returned the favor on January 12 defeating the Bearcats 42-36 at Dexter.

The consolation championship is Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m. in Bloomfield.

Junior Varsity

Dexter will also meet Bernie for the Junior Varsity Championship on Friday evening. Dexter defeated Richland 68-31 while Bernie defeated Advance 59-39. Richland will meet Advance in the Junior Varsity third place game at 4 p.m. on Friday. Dexter will face Bernie at 7 p.m. for the Junior Varsity Championship.
