DELTA -- Delta High's Lady Bobcats outscored Portageville 21-6 in the second quarter Wednesday night as they posted a 47-34 win in the championship game of the Delta girls basketball tournament.
That big second period for Delta wiped out an 11-4 Portageville advantage after one quarter. Leading 25-17 at halftime, the Lady Bobcats steadily pulled away in the second half.
Erin Eftink scored 14 points to lead Delta, which improved its record to 8-2.
St. Vincent captured third place by nipping Dexter 42-41. The Squaws (4-6) were led by Debbie Welker with 11 points.
The Squaws, who led 19-14 at halftime, fell behind 30-28 after three quarters. But they outscored Dexter 14-11 in the final period for the victory.
Puxico romped to the consolation title with a 62-39 win over Woodland. The Lady Cardinals (3-4) got 12 points from Desiree Bollinger.
