Delta tops Scott County to reach tournament title game

Second-seeded Delta advanced to the championship of the Chaffee Invitational Tournament with a 54-39 victory against No. 3 Scott County Central.

Sarah Cook lead all scorers with 21 points, and Kaci Menz added 12 for the Bobcats.

Brittney Peet paced the Bravettes with 15 points, and Brittany Godwin had 10.

Delta will face top-seeded Kelly in the tournament championship Saturday.

Sixth-seeded Chaffee edged No. 7 Oran 39-36 in the consolation semifinal round.

The Devils will take on No. 5 Scott City in the consolation championship Saturday.

Kegan Orr scored a game-high 19 points to lead Chaffee (1-3).

Amanda Eftink scored 16 for Oran (0-2).

Central posted its first victory and had its first state qualifier Thursday at Poplar Bluff.

Kris Metje, a junior, swam a state-qualifying time of 5 minutes, 13.45 seconds to win the 500-meter freestyle for Central (1-1).

The Tigers compete tonight and Saturday in the Marquette Relays.
