ELLINGTON — Four area cross country runners earned medals at the Ellington Invitational on Wednesday.
The meet featured more than 500 entrants ranging from elementary-school age to high schoolers.
The top-20 girls and boys received medals.
Campbell’s Logan Townsend, a senior, was the area’s top finisher in 17th clocking in at 20:12.94.
Senath-Hornersville’s Gerardo Castillo beat Campbell’s Drew Fowler to the line for a medal. Castillo was 20th (20:59.79) while Fowler was 21st (21:07.78).
Ricardo Gonzalez, a 2022 state qualifier, placed 22nd and Campbell’s Clay Huber was 28th overall.
Other counted boys runners for both schools were: Ben Rowland, Campbell, 30th; Caiden Mayberry, Campbell 31st; Todd Green, Senath-Hornersville, 32nd; Adyn Goff, 33rd, Senath-Hornersville; Sam Bunting, 35th, Campbell; and Jacob Chapman, 61st, Senath-Hornersville.
Campbell finished third overall as a team with 108 points while Senath-Hornersville was fifth (130).
On the girls side, Taylor Coleman from Campbell was 16th while Senath-Hornersville’s Halle Jamerson took 17th with times of 26:22.92 and 26:27.68, respectively. Both girls received medals for their performance.
Other Lions’ finishers were: Lily Chandler, 31st; Tanya Martinez, 33rd; Hayley Barksdale, 31:48.71; Ava Bollinger, 45th; Jena Dogan, 52nd; and Gabriela Sierra, 57th.
Senath-Hornersville was fifth in the girls team standings (119).
Soccer
Kennett 3, Perryville 3 (tie)
PERRYVILLE — The Kennett High School soccer team earned a hard-fought 3-all tie in a match versus Perryville junior varsity on Thursday.
Zeser Martinez tallied a pair of goals for the Indians.
Jaden Ramirez also scored off a corner kick from teammate Brandon Mullen, who finished the match with two assists.
Kennett now stands at 1-6-1 heading into Monday’s match with Westwood Baptist, a private school based in Poplar Bluff. The first kick is set for 5 p.m., at Indian Park.
