CAPE GIRARDEAU — Only the top-15 runners in the varsity boys and girls divisions received medals at the Heartland Conference meet Tuesday.
Noting that, Dunklin County teams were shut out from the medals stand during the conference meet, which took place at Cape County North Park.
The Heartland Conference is a newly formed league exclusive for the sport of cross country.
“That was the toughest course we have seen this season,” Kennett head coach Don Franklin said, “and we ran it well.”
Dylan Yates provided Kennett’s top performance, taking 30th in a time of 20:43.6.
Other Kennett finishers were Kade Anderson in 48th, Gabriel Checkett 76th, Blaine Roberts 91st and Cash Franklin 115th.
Samuel Bunting, who participated in two sports this fall, had Campbell’s best effort on the boys side. Bunting was 37th in 21:25.7.
Other Campbell finishes were as follows: Ben Rowland (46th), Logan Townsend (53rd), Zander Mayberry (60th), Clay Huber (61st), Kennan Siebert (68th), Caiden Mayberry (69th), James Olinger (74th), Jackson Foster (93rd), Zander Hanners (99th), Wyatt Janson (105th), Adon Lawless (109th) and Landen Wilson (116th).
Taylor Coleman of Campbell was 23rd in the varsity girls meet, recording a time of 27:05.9, while teammate Rita Joy-Wheeler was 36th.
Team standings weren’t posted on the Missouri Mile Split website.
Kennett, Campbell and Senath-Hornersville all will participate in the 10th Annual Dexter Bearcat Invitational this Saturday.
The varsity boys race will start at 1 p.m., with varsity girls to follow at 1:30 p.m. Medals will be given to the top-20 runners.

POPLAR BLUFF — Westwood Baptist blanked Kennett, 8-0, in a match on Tuesday afternoon.
This marked Westwood Baptist’s second win over the Indians this season, which also includes a match from Oct. 2.
Kennett’s final regular-season match is set for Tuesday, Oct. 24, as the Indians play host to Saxony Lutheran at Indian Park beginning at 5 p.m.
This will mark the final game for senior Lucas Randle.
