If two out of three ain't bad, the Delta softball team has reason to be happy with its three meetings in eight days against Scott City.
After losing a heartbreaker on April 15 in the final of the Oak Ridge Tournament, the Bobcats came back to beat Scott City in a conference makeup game Wednesday and then pulled off a rally of their own for a 3-2 victory Saturday in the championship of the Oran tournament.
Delta (8-1) scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game and won it in the seventh when senior Sarah Cook singled with two runners in scoring position.
"It was a little too nerve-racking for me," Delta coach Laura Brown said. "Maybe we've got to have pressure to play well."
Cook was the winning pitcher, scattering seven hits, three walks and three hit batsmen while striking out five. She improved to 6-1 on the season.
Emily Essner took the loss for Scott City (12-3).
Cook, Jessica Drew and Sara Blattel each had two hits for Delta.
Becky Holder had two hits for Scott City.
"After that tough loss at Oak Ridge, this was pretty sweet," Brown said. "I'm glad it turned out the way it did."
