Delta's girls basketball team employed an effective press late in the first quarter and pulled away for a road victory over Shawnee 60-40 on Saturday.

Shawnee took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter but saw Delta (14-4) take a 33-28 lead by halftime. The Bobcats outscored Shawnee 27-12 in the second half.

"The press hurt them," Delta coach Randy White said.

Shea Smith and Kaci Menz each finished with 18 points for Delta. Menz added nine steals.

Central managed just six first-half points in a home loss.

Rosati-Kain led 14-6 at halftime, but the Tigers cut the defcit to 23-20 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Courtney Schuessler led the Tigers with nine points.
