Sierra Coomer tossed a four-inning no-hitter and went 3 for 4 at the plate, driving in three runs, as Delta ripped visiting East Prairie 17-2 in Wednesday's girls softball season opener for both squads.
Delta led 4-0 after one inning and 6-0 after three before coming up with 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth, invoking the mercy rule.
Cooper Simpson went 3 for 3 for the Bobcats, while Megan Perry, Shiann Clayborn and Rachel Birkman added two hits each as the Bobcats amassed 17 hits in the game. Birkman drove in three runs, while Chasity Taylor had two RBIs.

Jackson scored five runs over the first two innings but was held scoreless the rest of the way in a season-opening road loss.
Kayla Keith went 3 for 4 for Jackson, while Megan Clippard and Taylor Bauknecht each were 2 for 3.
Kelsie Meystedt took the loss for the Indians, allowing seven runs over five innings.

Notre Dame kicked off its season with a win in Illinois during Matt Vollink's debut as the Bulldogs' coach. He had previously served as a Notre Dame assistant.
Devin Ziegler scored twice for the Bulldogs, while Ben Parsons and Russell Beussink added a goal apiece.
Ben Wedemeier and Thomas Himmelberg contributed assists.

Notre Dame opened its season by finishing second during a triangular meet at Union County Country Club in Anna, Ill.
Eldorado, Ill., won with a score of 166, paced by individual medalist Taylor Goodley's even-par 36.
Notre Dame followed with 175 and host Anna-Jonesboro brought up the rear with 277.
The Bulldogs were led by Camille Brewer's 39, followed by Amy Blattel (41), Mattie Beussink (45) and Maris Parker (50).
