LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Zach Moll threw a four-hitter for St. Vincent as the defending 1A state champions made their final preparations for district play with a 6-0 victory over Leopold on Friday.
Moll walked two and struck out three as the defense helped him out with two double plays.
Tyler Wengert went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a stolen base. Derek Kutz went 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, a walk and a stolen base and Josh Triller went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Dane Balsman gave St. Vincent the only run it would need with an RBI single in the second.
Josh Van de Ven, the first of three Leopold hurlers, suffered the loss.
St. Vincent, which improved to 12-11, has a better record now than it had last year heading into district play.
Kelly 10, Bell City 0
BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly gained some momentum heading into districts, knocking off Bell City -- sixth-ranked in Class 1A -- by the run-rule in five innings.
Tim Schmitt pitched a two-hitter while walking one and striking out five.
Jon Heuring went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in, while Schmitt helped his cause by going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Gabe Scherer suffered the loss. He lasted on 2 2/3 innings and gave up four runs (all earned) on four hits and three walks, but struck out six.
"He was throwing well," Kelly coach Mike Scott said. "But we did a good job of throwing strikes. After the second inning, we hit the strikes he threw. He started off throwing real hard but leveled off."
Ty Brown had both of Bell City's hits as the Cubs dropped to 16-3.
Oran 7, Bloomfield 3
ORAN, Mo. -- Oran finished its regular season at 18-5 behind a solid pitching performance by Ryne Wood.
Wood gave up three runs, one earned, in seven innings of work. He allowed three hits.
Oran, which scored three runs in the first, two in the fourth and two in the fifth, had seven batters with one hit each.
Garrett Cook had a double and two RBIs. Wood and Nathan Seyer had a hit and an RBI apiece.

Oran 21, Bloomfield 6
ORAN, Mo. -- Oran ended the season on a winning note with a three-inning romp over Bloomfield.
The Lady Eagles (11-5) rode big days by Ashley Dirnberger, who went 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and Amber Seyer, 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Dirnberger homered twice, belting a grand slam and a three-run shot.
Kellee Griffin gave up two hits, struck out one and walked four to gain the win.

Notre Dame 4, Farmington 0
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Sierra Ellis scored three goals as Notre Dame made its final tune-up for district action Thursday with a shutout victory.
Sarah Berkbigler accounted for the other Lady Bulldog goal. Caitlin Kelly had two assists.
Notre Dame will take a 12-10-3 record into Monday's district opener against St. Vincent.
