Kelly senior Debra Hall was happy to finally get over the hump against Delta in the championship game of the Chaffee Invitational.

After losing to the Bobcats the Last two years, the Hawks won 55-50 on Saturday with Hall scoring 24 points.

"Ever since I've been a freshman, it's been a rivalry with Delta, and it's a big relief to actually come out here and show that we're the best for once," Hall said. "It gets a lot off our shoulders."

Kelly improved to 4-0, sweeping to the tournament title behind a big week from Hall.

She scored 32 points in the semifinal win against Scott City on Wednesday and has drawn a lot of attention from opposing defenses.

Delta coach Mark Verticchio said his team was keeping an eye on her.

"Our defensive lapses are because we were concentrating on Hall so much," he said. "The biggest thing about her is how strong she is. I thought she had more than 24."

But Hall, part of the Kelly squad that emphasizes team play, doesn't mind letting her teammates do the scoring.

"We figured that I would get double-teamed eventually," said Hall. "My teammates were always there and I knew that they would lay in the shots."
