De Soto sweeps Cape Legion in doubleheader

The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Ford and Sons American Legion baseball team was swept in a doubleheader with De Soto on Monday, falling 8-5 and 17-4 at Capaha Field.

Cape outhit De Soto 10-8 in the first game, but fell in a six-run hole after four innings. De Soto struck for four runs in the second on one hit, taking advantage of two errors, two walks and a hit batsman.

Connor Mcgarr had two of Post 63's hits and was walked three times. T.J. Foeste had a triple and Clayton Reynolds had a double. Mcgarr and Justin Vaught both scored two runs.

Michael Ralls pitched three innings and took the loss. He gave up two hits, walked five and allowed five runs -- only one earned.

Post 63 committed three errors in the game.

De Soto outhit Cape 17-6 in the second game. Cape's Chase Hagerty finished 2 for 2 with a home run while Brock Baugher was 2 for 2 with a triple.

Isaac Pender took the loss for Post 63. He gave up six runs -- five earned -- three hits and had no strikeouts and three walks.
