Roe team claims Dalhousie scramble

Scott Roe, David Prasanphanich, Pat Godwin and Steve Wendling shot a 58 for a one-stroke victory in the Friends of Kathy Swan tournament, a four-person scramble, at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The team of Dave Berry, Richard Moore, John Wiemann and Eli Glass placed second with a 59, winning a scorecard playoff with the team of Bill Morrow, Aaron Dombrowski and Dan Gilham.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Wendling (No. 5) and Dombrowski (No. 11). Glass had the longest drive.

Capaha Classic 5K, Mile Run on July 11

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual Capaha Classic 5K and Children's One-Mile Run on July 11 at Capaha Park.

Cost of the event is $15 in advance and $20 the day of the race. The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group in both races.

Globall tournament July 11 at Cape Jaycee

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host the Nightfall Globall Tournament at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course on July 11.

Nine holes of the four-person scramble will be played in light and nine holes at night. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 4:30 p.m. Entry fee is $160 per team. Cart rental is $12 per person. Dinner will be provided.

Entry forms are available at the course and at A.C. Brase Arena.

Griffin wins point event at Dalhousie

Jim Griffin won the recent point-series event (quota, 36-handicap) at Dalhousie Golf Club with a plus-9.

Jim Clay (plus-6) finished second, and Tim Viers, Paul Giebler and Jerry Stone (plus-4) tied for third.
