Umpires meeting slated for March 24

The SEMO Umpires Association will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. March 24 at Eagle Distributing in Cape Girardeau.

The meeting will feature training on rules, mechanics and situations, and those in attendance will need schedules in hand, as there will be some additional game assignments.

Howard Aslinger Endurance Run set for this weekend

The 7th Annual Howard Aslinger Endurance Run is scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday at Arena Park in Cape Girardeau.

Over 150 runners and walkers have registered for the 12/24-hour event, which raised over $21,000 for the foundation last year.

Olmstead notches first career hole in one

James Olmsted hit his first career hole in one Thursday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course in Cape Girardeau.

Olmstead was playing hole No. 3 from 125 yards while using a 6 iron. Witnesses were Jack Smith and Keith Raganyi.
