Colwell returns to Southeast staff as assistant coach

Southeast Missouri State women's basketball coach B.J. Smith added a familiar face to his staff last week.

Katrina Colwell, who had been an assistant last year at Southeast but left to take a job as the girls basketball coach at Herculaneum High School, has returned to her old position.

Colwell informed Smith last week she would return to the program, which was 22-9 last year in Smith's fourth season and earned its first OVC tournament title and NCAA Division I appearance.

"That worked out real well," Smith said.

Colwell joins assistants Lisa Pace and John Ishee.

"I was disappointed when she left," said Smith, who had said Colwell did a phenomenal job. "This is the best staff I've had since I've been here."
