Collin Dannenmueller was asked to do a little bit of everything Friday night when the Chaffee Red Devils played the Scott City Rams.

And he succeeded ˜ scoring one touchdown on a pass reception, scoring another one on a reverse and helping lead the defense with eight tackles to help the Red Devils post a 28-6 victory for their second straight in the rivalry.

"It feels wonderful," Dannenmueller said after the game. "It's like the greatest feeling ever."

The Red Devils last year won 21-19 at home to post a win in the series for the first time since 1985, before Dannenmueller and his teammates were born. They accomplished the victory this year on Scott City's homecoming.

The Rams were a gracious host with seven turnovers.

After the second one, a punt that glanced off a Scott City player, the Red Devils went up top on the next play, a 38-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Horrell to Dannenmueller that made the score 14-0 in the second period.

But Dannenmueller's biggest play came in the third period, with Chaffee trying to cash in on another fumble of a punt snap that set up the Red Devils on the 11-yard line. However, Chaffee faced fourth-and-9 at the 10 and decided to try some trickery.

Hunter Thomason took a handoff left and gave the ball to Dannenmueller, who came back around the right side and dived into the end zone just before being knocked out of bounds by a Scott City defender.

"I thought the only way I was going to make it was if my line bocked and my other running back, Hunter Thomason, made a heck of a handoff," Dannenmueller said.

Chaffee coach Charlie Vickery called it one of the two key points of the game along with a first-half defensive stand.
