Cape Central's golf team was sizzling Wednesday in its final regular-season match of the season, shooting a seven-over-par 147 as a team to beat Dexter by 25 strokes at Cape Coutry Club.
"That's our lowest score in quite a few years," said Central coach Dick Wadlington. "That's an outstanding high school score.
Danny Groesbeck won medalist honors with an even-par 35 over nine holes. Kent Phillips 36, Dane McLaird 38 and Bryan Welker 38 followed for the Tigers, who improved to 11-3-1.
"Maybe were starting to do some things right at right time of the year," Wadlington said.
District competition is up next for the Tiger golfers. Central's district will be held Monday at Quail Creek Golf Course in St. Louis' South County.
