CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Unbeaten John Burroughs marched into the Class 2A semifinals with a 42-22 victory over Charleston Monday night.

Bomber quarterback A.J. Van Slyke, the son of former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Andy Van Slyke, unloaded four touchdowns while passing for 256 yards.

A.J. Eades rushed for 121 yards and scored on runs of 5 and 42 yards for John Burroughs (12-0).

Bob Miltenberger had three receptions for 125 yards, including TD catches of 84 and 23 yards.

Dontay Clark had two touchdown runs for Charleston (9-3), scoring from 9 and 24 yards out.

Jordy Mixon led the Bluejays with 119 yards rushing on 10 carries.

Burroughs never trailed, leading 21-6 at halftime and 35-6 entering the fourth quarter.

In games involving other Southeast Missouri teams, New Madrid defeated Clayton 49-26 in a Class 3A semifinal, while previously unbeaten Hayti fell 45-8 to Tipton in Class 1A action.
