The favorites rolled into the championship game of the Class 2 District 2 baseball tournament by posting lopsided semifinal victories Tuesday afternoon.

Top-seeded Charleston routed fourth-seeded Scott City 14-3 in five innings, and No. 2 Kelly rolled past No. 3 St. Vincent 9-0. Kelly is the host squad, but Tuesday's games were played in Chaffee because of the Hawks' wet field. The final is Thursday at 4 p.m. at Kelly.

Kelly (10-8) avenged a loss to St. Vincent (12-11) in last year's semifinals as Kendal Deason fired a two-hit shutout. Caleb Daughetee led the offense by going 3-for-3. John Simpher had two hits and drove in three runs while Blake Lee added two hits.

Charleston (15-8) continued its best season in years by run-ruling Scott City (8-12). A.H. Marshall had three hits, Marcus Dixon added two hits and two RBIs, and Travis McCann was the winning pitcher.

Class 1 District 2Top-seeded Oran and second-seeded Advance advanced to the district championship game with easy semifinal victories.

Oran rolled past No. 5 Bell City 10-0 in five innings and host Advance routed No. 6 Scott County Central 15-1, also in five innings. The squads will square off at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for the title. Oran is shooting for its third straight trip to the state's final four.

Oran's Chase Seyer (5-0) pitched a one-hitter, with seven strikeouts and no walks. The Eagles had 13 hits, led by Joey Williams' 4-for-4 performance. Matt Seyer and Trevor Irwin both added two hits while Garrett Roslen homered.

James Masters hit a three-run home run in the second inning to break the game open for Advance (17-5) and clear the way to the title game.

Josh Bailey had two hits and five RBIs for the Hornets and Alex Sample had three hits and three RBIs. Jeremy Limbaugh and Aaron Abernathy each had two hits. Daryl Wade (5-0) was the winner.

"We play Oran, that pretty much sums it up," Advance coach Bob Moses said, looking ahead to Thursday's matchup. "Year in and year out, they're the team to beat. I don't know if we can beat them, but we'll be competitive with them."
