Chaffee stays undefeated by routing rival Scott City

The Chaffee football team continued the program's best start since 1969 by routing its arch rival Friday night.

Chaffee scored the game's first 22 points and rolled past visiting Scott City 51-16.

The Red Devils, who have outscored their opponents 225-72, improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 1969 squad began the season 6-0. The Rams fell to 1-4.

Quarterback Peyton Montgomery threw three touchdown passes and three 2-point conversion passes. He also ran for a 1-yard score and kicked a PAT.

Devon Yahn caught TD passes covering 51 and 34 yards. Layton Tenkhoff hauled in a 38-yard TD pass and caught all three of the conversions from Montgomery.

Jimmy Golden collected two TDs, on a 10-yard run and a 62-yard interception return to complete the night's scoring.

Chaffee also had another defensive TD, the first score of the game when Storm Estes returned an interception 30 yards.

Scott City's touchdowns were by Gordy Bradley on a 44-yard run and quarterback Braden Cox on a 1-yard run.
