All the area high school sports reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Chaffee scored seven runs in the fifth inning on its way to a season-opening 9-8 road victory Monday against Neelyville in softball action.

Kaitlyn Miller, Taylor Fodge, Adrienne Eichhorn and Montana Estes all had three hits for the Red Devils. Miller had a double and two RBIs, while Fodge and Maria Smith both doubled.

Estes picked up the win on the mound for the Red Devils (1-0), striking out five and allowing four earned runs in seven innings.

The Hawks allowed two runs in the bottom of the seventh to suffer a road loss.

Kristen Powell was Kelly's losing pitcher after allowing five hits and two earned runs over seven innings.

Emily Grojean went 2 for 3 with four stolen bases for the Hawks (0-1).

Myra Henson suffered the loss, striking out five and allowing six hits and two earned runs.

Heather Wiseman had six assists and one block for the Eagles.

Lyndse Hamby recorded six aces and three kills, while Megan Woodall chipped in six assists and two digs for Eagle Ridge (0-1).

The Indians won their first match of the season with the road win.
