The Chaffee Red Devils defeated the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders 13-3 on Thursday at Chaffee High School.

The Red Devils took control of the game with six runs in the first inning and then forced the run rule with a five-run sixth inning to end the game.

In the circle for the Red Devils, Carlyanne Cossou started and went 4.2 innings of work finishing with five strikeouts and three walks. Bailey Robertson came in for relief and put the Crusaders away.

Chaffee was led on offense by Ayne’ Held with a 4-for-5 day while three Red Devils, including Cossou, drove in two runs. Jocelyn Hanlon added three RBIs with a base-clearing double.

The offense of the Crusaders was led by Maddie Preusser who went 1-2 with two RBIs and a walk. Pitching for the Crusaders were both Roths [Lilly and Myra] who combined for two strikeouts and six walks.

The Red Devils have won three games in three days and have outscored opponents 47-10. At 8-2, they are trending towards their best season since 2017, when the Red Devils finished 18-13 and in the final four.

Chaffee will host North County on Monday at 4:30 p.m. while Saxony hosts Fredericktown on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

__Chaffee 24, Jefferson (Festus) 1 (3 innings)__

The Chaffee Red Devils defeated the Jefferson (Festus) Blue Jays 24-1 on Wednesday at Jefferson High School.

The offense of Chaffee was led by Paizleigh Graham who went 3-3 with five RBIs. In the circle for the Red Devils, Carlyanne Cossou started and went two innings of work with five strikeouts and one walk. Bailey Robertson came in for relief and finished the game with a single strikeout.
