ST. LOUIS -- Chaffee's Junior Legion baseball team moved into the finals of its zone tournament Friday with a 7-4 victory over Maryland Heights.
Chaffee will face the winner of Friday's Maryland Heights-Imperial game today at 1 p.m. The loser's bracket winner must defeat Chaffee twice to win the championship.
Chaffee, which defeated Imperial 9-3 on Thursday, has beaten both teams in the tournament.
Chaffee trailed Maryland Heights 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but the local squad scored five runs in the frame. Brad Kolwyck and Phil Seyer highlighted the big inning with two-run singles.
Kolwyck finished with three singles and four RBIs. Chaffee had seven hits overall.
Matt Stroup relieved G.P. Glueck with nobody out in the fourth inning and did not allow a run over the final four innings. He struck out three, walked one and allowed two hits.
Brian Obermann notched the win against Imperial while John O'Rourke led an eight-hit attack with three hits.
