Chaffee will be buzzing with baseball and softball activity this weekend as the high school hosts a pair of eight-team tournaments.
The Red Devils Baseball Classic and Lady Red Devils Softball Classic will both take place today and Saturday.
And both Chaffee coaches are excited.
"It's the first time we've hosted an eight-team tournament like this and it should be a good one," said baseball coach Bruce Qualls. "We've got some very good teams participating."
Said softball coach Mark Devenport, "We're really looking forward to the tournament. It should be a lot of fun and we should have some very good games."
Joining the host team in the baseball field will be Scott City, Perryville, Oran, Dexter, New Madrid County Central, Senath and Shawnee (Ill.).
"Senath is supposed to be loaded and Oran has a really good team this year," Qualls said. "Shawnee is also pretty strong and so are some of the other teams."
Participating softball teams, in addition to Chaffee, will be Scott City, Delta, Oran, Charleston, Advance, Dexter and Gideon.
