KIRKWOOD -- Cape Girardeau Central High School's Dionna Webb had a standout performance Saturday during the rugged Kirkwood Invitational track and field meet that featured 21 teams.

Webb, a junior who was second in the long jump at last year's Class 4A state meet, finished first Saturday with a jump of 18 feet 6 inches -- bettering her own school record.

That distance was also the fifth-best ever in the prestigious Kirkwood Invitational, topping a performance by the legendary Jackie Joyner-Kersee.

Webb also placed fourth in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

"She really had a great day," said Central coach Lawrence Brookins.

Central also got second-place finishes from Courtney Haman in the high jump and Eve Lungwitz in the pole vault. Haman was also third in the 100 hurdles.
