CENTRAL'S DOUBLES TEAM OUSTED FROM STATE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

SPRINGFIELD -- Cape Girardeau Central High's doubles team of Mick Metzger and Trevor Blattner was ousted Saturday during the consolation semifinal round of the Class 4A state tennis tournament.

Ben Bawden and Ryan Reid of Kansas City Rockhurst posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Metzger and Blattner, but then lost in the fifth-place match.

Metzger and Blattner finished the state tourney with a 2-2 record. They lost in the first round Friday but came back later that day to post a pair of consolation victories.
