Central volleyball wins in two games

Wendi Zickfield put down seven kills and chipped in five digs to help lead the Central volleyball team past New Madrid County Central on Tuesday.

Rita Walter added 10 digs and two blocks for the Tigers (7-11-2).

Game scores were 25-11, 25-7.

The Indians improved to 9-6 with the road sweep.

Jill Rushin led Jackson with eight kills, three blocks and four aces. Mary Ann Bradshaw added seven kills, while Rachael Meyr had two kills and 15 assists in the win.

Logan Johnson had six digs and Megan Lundy spiked five kills for the Pirates (15-6-1).

Katie Diebold posted nine assists, four aces and four kills to help the Rams sweep the Eagles.

Katie Hogan chipped in four blocks and six kills for Scott City (11-1-1). Anna Laitinen recorded five kills, while Jordan McFall had nine assists and five aces. Brooke Simpson recorded eight kills for the victors.

Cassie Simpher came up big with seven kills while Kara Versemann added seven digs for the Crusaders (8-9-2).

Brooke Kasten finished with 11 assists in the win.

The Indians dropped a Jefferson County Conference match on the road.

Sarah DeWilde, Kali Wingerter and Chelsie Boxdorfer each had five kills. DeWilde added six blocks and Wingerter had five. Courtney Besand paced the team with 14 digs.

Senior goalie Ryan Bass recorded his 35th career shutout to help the Bulldogs earn the win.

Bass' shutout broke the school record, which was set by Trent Summers from 1993 to 1996.

Joe Froemsdorf and Josh Robert scored for Notre Dame (8-1). Brenton Ruopp, John Unterreiner and Bass earned assists.
